On Android, Gravl shows a notification while a workout is in progress. You can check where you are in your session from the notification shade, without opening the app. It is the Android version of the Live Activity that Gravl shows on iPhone.
What it shows
- The name of your current exercise.
- Your next set, for example "Set 2/4" with its reps and weight.
- The kind of set, for example Workout, Warmup, Superset or Dropset. It also shows Paused when you pause your workout.
- A progress bar with the sets you've logged out of all the sets in the workout.
On Android 16 and later, Gravl asks Android to show it as a Live Update, and the progress bar has one segment for each exercise. On earlier Android versions, it is a regular notification with a single progress bar.
Tap the notification to go back to your workout. Your rest timer countdown has its own, separate notification.
When it appears and goes away
The notification appears when you start a workout and updates as you log sets. It goes away when you finish and save the workout, or when you cancel it.
If you swipe it away, it stays hidden for the rest of that workout. It comes back when you start your next one.
Turn it off
The notification uses a channel called Workout progress. To turn it off:
- Open your phone's Settings.
- Go to Apps, then Gravl, then Notifications.
- Turn off Workout progress.
The names of these menus can be a little different on some phones. You can also long-press the notification to get to its settings.
Gravl needs permission to send notifications to show it. If you don't see it during a workout, check that notifications are on for Gravl.
