What a diet break is
A diet break is a planned stretch of eating at maintenance in the middle of a weight-loss phase. Long deficits wear people down — energy dips, hunger climbs, adherence frays. Stepping up to maintenance for a while relieves that pressure without abandoning the goal, and for long cuts it often makes the whole project more sustainable.
Starting one
From an active weight-loss plan, start the break in your plan's settings. Your calories move up to your current adaptive expenditure — real maintenance as the algorithm currently measures it for you, not a formula guess. Your previous targets are remembered.
While the break is on, the app treats maintenance as the goal: check-ins keep running with maintenance logic, and the break is reflected in your check-in's insights so nothing looks like a stall that isn't one.
Ending it
End the break from the same place and your weight-loss targets come back, refreshed against your current expenditure and weight rather than restored blindly. There's no required duration — typical breaks run a week or two, but the timing is yours.
Where it applies
Diet breaks belong to weight-loss plans in the coached and collaborative modes. In Manual mode you own the numbers directly, so a "break" is simply you typing maintenance calories for a while.
