When to use it
Label scanning is for packaged products the barcode couldn't find — or products with no barcode at all. Instead of typing the label in by hand, you photograph it and the app extracts the serving size and nutrients.
Scan the label
In the Scan tab, switch to Label mode (it's also offered directly when a barcode comes up empty). Frame the nutrition facts panel and shoot. Reading the label needs an internet connection.
Check the numbers, then save
The extracted values open in the food editor, prefilled — name, serving, calories, macros, and whatever micronutrients the label listed. This is deliberately a review step: reading a label from a photo is reliable but not infallible, so compare against the package before saving. Correct anything, then save and log it.
The food is saved as one of your own, so next time it's in My Foods and in your search results without scanning anything.
If you got here from a failed barcode scan, the barcode is attached to the food automatically — future scans of that product resolve instantly.
