Automatic Reminder Times

Meal reminders that settle on the hours you actually eat, instead of the hours a default picked.

Reminders that learn your schedule

Every meal reminder starts on Automatic, and its row in Profile → Notifications reads Auto · 13:45 — the hour it will actually fire, not a placeholder. If your lunch drifts later over a few weeks, the reminder drifts with it.

Until there is enough history to be sure, each meal keeps its starting hour: 8:00 for breakfast, 13:00 for lunch, 20:00 for dinner, 16:00 for the snack reminder.

How the hour is chosen

The app reads the times you logged that meal over the last 28 days, takes the middle one, and adds 30 minutes. It needs at least 8 logged meals in that window before it will move off the starting hour, and the result is rounded to the nearest five minutes.

The half hour is the point of the whole design. Reminders stay silent once you have logged, so a reminder set for the middle of your usual lunch would mostly be cancelled before it spoke. Set just after it, the only days it reaches you are the days you forgot — and by then, lunch has actually happened.

It settles, and it stays settled

A new middle hour has to land more than fifteen minutes away from the time currently in use before the schedule moves. A day of eating early shifts your median by a few minutes and changes nothing; a genuine change of routine moves it.

Derived times always land between 6:00 and 22:30, so a thin or unusual stretch of history cannot produce a reminder in the middle of the night.

Setting an hour yourself

Tap the time on any meal reminder. Automatic sits at the top of the list and every hour below it pins that reminder where you put it — useful for a schedule you keep deliberately rather than one your logs reveal. The other two reminders, the weigh-in and the daily nudge, are always at the hour you choose.
