Your Data and Privacy

Where your data lives, exactly what the AI features send, and what the app deliberately doesn't do.

Where your data lives

Your diary is stored on your device first and synced to your Gravl account — that's what makes offline logging and multi-device use work. Weight, measurements, and progress photos are shared with Gravl Workouts under the same account.

What the AI features send

AI features send exactly what they need to produce your result, and nothing runs in the background on its own:

  • Photo logging uploads the meal photo you took, which is also kept attached to your diary entry.
  • Voice logging sends the transcript text — your device's speech recognition converts the audio, and the app never uploads the recording itself.
  • Label scanning sends the label photo; recipe imports send the photos, text, or link you provided.
  • The coach cards send a compact numeric summary (targets, expenditure, trend) — never your diary, meal photos, weigh-ins, or identity.

Everything else — your targets math, trend weight, expenditure — is computed without AI involvement.

What the app doesn't do

  • No ads, and no advertising SDKs.
  • No third-party analytics tracking your behavior.
  • Crash reporting is technical and scrubbed: reports identify the crash, not you — email and network addresses are stripped before anything is sent.
  • Your custom foods are private. They're only shared if you explicitly turn on Contribute to the catalog, and that shares the food's information — name, brand, barcode, nutrition — never anything about you.
